WHAT IS NUVOSTONE?

Nuvostone is a brand of engineered stone such as Caesarstone, Essastone, Smartstone and Quantum Quartz. It is the most popular type of benchtop currently used in Australia. Engineered stone is a composite product combining crushed quartz and polymer resins.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NUVOSTONE AND OTHER BRANDS OF ENGINEERED STONE

Each brand of mainstream engineered stone is manufactured from mainly crushed quartz and polymer resins. Nuvostone is made using these same manufacturing processes. Colour ranges vary from brand to brand. Aside from this, the different brands are basically the same type of product with the same manufacturing process.

IS NUVOSTONE EXPENSIVE?

As you deal directly with Nuvostone or one of our distributors, the additional costs created by ‘middle men’ and high overheads that you may have experienced with other brands of engineered stone are eliminated. Naturally savings over other brands will vary from area to area depending on competitive pressures, but as a rule of thumb you could expect the cost of your 40mm Nuvostone benchtops to be 30-50% less than the brands listed above. Our customers experience savings on average of over $2,000 for an average sized ‘U’ shaped benchtop.

Nuvostone and our distributors are suppliers only. We have recommended installers whose work has been personally verified by us to ensure you will receive a tradesman-like installation of your benchtop. We take the installation of our benchtops by our recommended installers very seriously and they must abide by our code of conduct at all times. Your organisation of the installation of your benchtop, either through one of our recommended installers, or through an installer you source yourself, helps to keep our prices as low as possible.

CAN I PUT HOT ITEMS ON MY NUVOSTONE BENCHTOP?

No. Always use a cutting board that won’t radiate heat to put items taken from your oven or off your cooktop on to.

CAN I CUT ON MY NUVOSTONE BENCHTOP?

Although it’s unlikely to cause damage, we strongly recommend you don’t cut directly on your Nuvostone benchtop. Using a cutting board will also prevent the hardness of your Nuvostone benchtop dulling your knives.

CAN I USE NUVOSTONE OUTSIDE?

No. Nuvostone is only suitable for indoor use as UV can cause discolouration, especially with darker colours. Your Nuvostone benchtop should also not be exposed to more than an hour of direct sunlight each day to prevent discolouration over time.

CAN I SEE JOINTS ON MY INSTALLED NUVOSTONE BENCHTOP?

Yes. Although a properly installed benchtop should have joints which are consistent in width and are flush, they are visible. Some patterns and colours create a joint which is barely noticeable, where others have more visible joints. As a rule light colours with a finer pattern have the least noticeable joints.

CAN I UNDERMOUNT MY SINK?

There is no technically impediment to undermount installation of sinks. However we do not recommend them as heavy based pots and pans have historically caused chipping damage to the edge of the undermount cut-out. Edges are the most vunerable place for chipping to occur from the impact of heavy items. Undermount sinks also attract additional installation costs.

IS MY NUVOSTONE BENCHTOP STAIN RESISTANT?

Yes. Your Nuvostone is highly stain resistant, but it is not stain proof. Although your Nuvostone benchtop is much more stain resistant than laminate, granite and marble benchtops, staining is still possible if you abuse it. Always clean up spills immediately, especially those that contain higher levels of acids like citrus juices and red wine. Never allow bleach or products that contain bleach to come in contact with your Nuvostone benchtop.

DOES NUVOSTONE COME WITH A WARRANTY?

Your Nuvostone is covered by a limited 10 year warranty. Your warranty covers manufacturing faults and defects. Slight colour variations are not considered a defect. Damage to your benchtop by neglect, abuse or misuse including chipping, staining and cracking are not covered by our warranty. Evidence of any fault or defect must accompany any warranty claim.
